Scale Models and Miniature Parks for Saudi Giga-Projects: Diriyah, Qiddiya, NEOM, Expo 2030 and the 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia is building on a scale the world has rarely seen. Diriyah, the historic birthplace of the Kingdom, is being transformed into a cultural and lifestyle destination; Qiddiya opened its Six Flags theme park in December 2025 and keeps expanding; the Red Sea resorts are welcoming guests; and Riyadh is preparing for Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034. Even as some plans – such as parts of NEOM – are being re-phased and refocused, the Kingdom’s priority projects are moving ahead.

Every one of these projects has to be explained: to investors, to future residents and tenants, to government stakeholders and to the public. And there is still no tool more powerful than a large, detailed physical model.

Why physical models still matter for giga-projects

  • Scale you can understand: a master plan of several square kilometres becomes readable at a glance on a 1:500 or 1:1000 model.
  • Trust for investors: a high-quality model shows that a project is real, well planned and professionally managed.
  • A centrepiece for sales centres and exhibitions: visitors gather around a model, take photos and share them – it becomes the heart of the space.
  • Storytelling with automation: LED lighting, day/night scenarios, moving traffic and trains, water features and tablet-controlled presentations let you show phases, infrastructure and lifestyle in minutes.

What we have built at this scale

MiniatureArt has delivered architectural models in 24 countries, including some of the largest presentation models in our region:

Beyond models: miniature parks for destinations like Qiddiya

Giga-projects need more than sales-centre models – they need attractions. Entertainment and culture destinations such as Qiddiya, Diriyah or the Red Sea resorts are the perfect setting for a miniature park: a landscaped, open-air park where visitors walk through Saudi Arabia’s landmarks, history and traditions in perfect scale. Such a park can become a family attraction, an educational destination for schools and a showcase of the Kingdom for international tourists – complete with lighting, water features, animatronic figures and light-and-sound shows.

A miniature park is also one of the most beautiful ways to present Saudi culture to the world: the mud-brick palaces of At-Turaif, the coral-stone houses of historic Jeddah, the Nabataean heritage of AlUla, Najdi villages, desert caravans, falconry, traditional crafts and festivals – all brought to life in one place that visitors will remember.

Faith, heritage and education

Around holy cities such as Makkah and Madinah, miniature parks and scale-model exhibitions can play a special role. They help pilgrims, visitors and young people understand the history and architecture of sacred places, the growth of the holy mosques over the centuries and the wider heritage of Islamic civilisation – in a respectful, educational and accessible way. Having produced architectural models for the expansion of the Masjid al-Haram, we understand the care and sensitivity such projects require.

Models for every phase of a giga-project

  • Master plan models (1:1000 – 1:5000) for the whole destination.
  • District and building models (1:100 – 1:500) for hotels, residential towers, malls, stadiums and cultural buildings.
  • Interior and section models for apartments, villas and hospitality.
  • Infrastructure models for metro lines, airports, ports and energy projects.
  • Heritage models for projects that celebrate local culture – see our article on national miniature parks for the Gulf.
