Panorama Konya Museum: Immersive 360° Panorama, Dioramas & Global Mevlevi Lodges

Located in the historic heart of Konya (37°52’11.15″N, 32°30’43.14″E), the Panorama Konya Museum is a monumental cultural project realized in 2017 in partnership with the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. Master-planned, structurally planned, and artisticly executed entirely from scratch by MiniatureART, this museum complex captures the life of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi and the vibrant social fabric of 13th-century Konya through scale modeling, panoramic art, and hyper-realistic wax figures.

The Courtyard: Surviving Mevlevi Lodges of the World

The open-air courtyard serves as an architectural homage to global Mevlevi (Sufi) heritage, bringing together scale models of surviving Mevlevi lodges (Mevlevihanes) from across three continents:

  • Global Heritage Representation: Featuring faithful scale reproductions of historic lodges from Cairo, Damascus, Plovdiv, Nicosia (Cyprus), Kilis, Afyon, Kütahya, Eskişehir, Antalya, Tokat, Istanbul, Gallipoli, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Edirne, İzmir, Ankara, anchored by the central Mevlana Dargah (Museum) itself.

  • Record 3-Month Production Turnaround: While each lodge required exacting historical fidelity and masonry detailing, MiniatureART deployed its industrial manufacturing capacity to engineer, cast, and install every exterior model within a record-breaking 3-month deadline.

360° Circular Panorama & Hyper-Realistic Dioramas

Beyond the outdoor courtyard, the museum transitions into a fully immersive indoor diorama environment focused on 13th-century Seljuk Konya:

  • Continuous 360-Degree Panorama: Over a full year of intensive artistic production was dedicated to engineering the massive circular panoramic hall. The installation creates a complete, unbroken visual horizon depicting historical Konya, its ancient fortifications, trade caravans, and daily street life.

  • Seamless Diorama Integration: 2D curved background paintings merge into 3D foreground physical terrain, authentic adobe houses, mudbrick textures, market stalls, and flowing water channels.

  • Life-Size & Miniature Wax Figures: The diorama incorporates both miniature figurines and full-scale (1:1) hyper-realistic wax figures depicting Mevlana, his disciples, whirling dervishes (Semazenler), and Seljuk-era artisans. Every figure is sculpted with anatomical precision, historical attire, and emotive realism.
