Al Shaheed Park: Preserving and Showcasing Kuwait’s Heritage
Al Shaheed Park is Kuwait’s largest and most important urban park, in the heart of Kuwait City. It covers more than 200,000 m² of gardens, trails and lakes, as well as the Thekra and Habitat museums. At its centre stands our Old Kuwait City model.
The Amiri Diwan of Kuwait commissioned the project directly, under the supervision of Kuwaiti architect Khaled Bin Sarhi. MiniatureArt was a trusted partner in the design, engineering and production of the park’s historical miniature showcase. This special area documents the architectural, urban and social evolution of Kuwait in tremendous detail.
Al Shaheed Park Kuwait: Old Kuwait City Reborn at 1:20 Scale
Unlike traditional 1:25 exhibitions, we produced the historical zone at an enlarged 1:20 scale. As a result, it shows an unprecedented level of detail across Kuwait’s pre-oil and early modern heritage:
317 Coastal House Structures. We produced 317 traditional dwellings to recreate the urban fabric of pre-modern Kuwait. Placed along the miniature waterfront, they reflect the historic coastal settlement on the Arabian Gulf.
Iconic Historic Palaces: Masterfully scaled reproductions of Seif Palace (Al-Seif) and the historic Red Palace (Al-Qasr Al-Ahmar), reflecting their original clay brick textures, battlements and timber details.
Four Gates and Walled City Walls: A complete structural recreation of the defensive perimeter, including the legendary four city gates (Bawwabat) of historic Kuwait.
Traditional Souqs, Schools and Mosques: Carefully detailed marketplaces, religious minarets and the first civic schools that immortalize everyday Kuwaiti life.
Modern Kuwait and 3D Projection Mapping Innovation
In contrast to the historical zone, the park features a special modern section showcasing 15 contemporary Kuwaiti landmarks:
Pristine Minimalist Monoliths: These 15 modern architectural models were deliberately designed and built with seamless, ultra-smooth white surfaces free of surface colour.
A Dynamic 3D Video Mapping Canvas: These models also work as high-precision projection canvases. In the evening, 3D mapping projects light shows and animations onto their white architectural forms.

MiniatureArt worked closely with the main contractor. In short, we covered everything from the park layout and civil design to turnkey model production:

Architectural models for a historic city model and projection
The Al Shaheed project combines a historic city reconstruction with contemporary buildings used in multimedia shows. In a historic city model, daily life and the relationships between buildings come first. In a projection model, however, surface geometry, light and the show layout take precedence.
