Han Chadir Architectural Model

About the Han Chadir Architectural Model

A Han Chadir Architectural Model captures one of Astana’s most unusual buildings, the giant tent-like Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center, in a form you can walk around and study. The building was designed by Norman Foster (Foster + Partners) and opened in 2010. Rising to 150 metres, its transparent tent keeps 15–30 °C inside all year while outdoor temperatures range from −35 to 35 °C.

The real challenge in modelling a structure like this is keeping its sense of lightness while making the structural logic readable. MiniatureArt’s Han Chadir Architectural Model captures the ETFE-clad elliptical tent and its cable-supported structure at scale. Viewers can see how the sloping surfaces rise towards the peak and how the enclosure wraps the spaces beneath it.

For complex geometries of this kind, our workshop works with durable polyurethane and resin parts and completes every surface with hand painting. Internal lighting is particularly striking on translucent forms and helps a model stand out in exhibition halls, museums, sales offices and project presentations. If you want the full background of the building, you can read more about Khan Shatyr on Wikipedia.

Our work in Astana does not stop here. If the city’s transport architecture interests you, take a look at our Astana Train Station Model and compare how we approach detail across very different building types.

At MiniatureArt we turn even ambitious architectural forms into high quality models at affordable prices, and we stand behind the work we hand over. If you are considering a Han Chadir Architectural Model or a similarly distinctive structure, describe your project to us and we will come back with a quote that fits your needs.
