A Historical Touch to Modernity: Seljuk Architecture Miniature Models
Originally conceived as an unplanned addition to the modern Konya Science Center, this bespoke miniature collection was commissioned by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality to infuse the high-tech facility with a profound historical essence. Designed to build a bridge between cutting-edge science and ancient heritage, the project was meticulously executed despite highly restricted spatial conditions, ultimately becoming a celebrated tribute to Anatolian monumental architecture.
1:25 Scale Masterpieces of the Seljuk Empire
A Focused Architectural Legacy: The exhibition comprises 20 masterfully crafted scale models, exclusively dedicated to the architectural triumphs of the Great Seljuk Empire, with a special emphasis on Konya’s regional heritage.
Iconic Monuments Recreated: Acting as a free, open-air educational platform for the public, the collection allows visitors to closely examine the millimetric details of globally recognized masterpieces. The models include the spiritual heart of Konya, the Mevlana Complex, alongside the striking Gökmedrese in Sivas, the historic Çifte Minareli Medrese in Erzurum, and the colossal Sultan Han in Aksaray.
Promoting Monumental Architecture: Provided entirely free of charge to the public, the primary mission of this installation is to educate and inspire new generations about the structural brilliance and artistic depth of historic Islamic and Turkic architecture.
Strategic Relocation to Konya Ecdad Park
Expanding the Vision: Because the original footprint at the Science Center was extremely constrained, the models could not be displayed with the spatial grandeur they deserved. To resolve this and accommodate growing public interest, the entire collection was strategically relocated to the expansive Konya Ecdad Park.
A Fitting Historical Landscape: This relocation provided the magnificent 1:25 scale monuments with the breathing room and thematic landscaping they required. Today, integrated into a park specifically designed to honor ancestral heritage, the models stand as a permanent, high-traffic cultural attraction for both locals and tourists.
