In 2010, MiniatureArt undertook the comprehensive renovation of Minimundi, a privately owned miniature park located in Middelburg, Netherlands. Originally situated precisely in the city center, the park was strategically relocated to the city’s outskirts. This crucial move provided the necessary footprint to construct a modern, multi-purpose main building and expand the attraction into a full-scale family entertainment destination, blending architectural heritage with classic amusement rides.
A Masterclass in High-Density Scale Exhibition
100+ Models in a Compact Footprint: Despite its relatively small exhibition area, Minimundi features an incredibly dense collection of over 100 meticulously crafted scale models. The entire collection is exclusively dedicated to reproducing the architectural charm of Middelburg city and the surrounding Walcheren region.
Smart Hardscape Engineering: To maximize space without creating visual clutter, the miniature zone was engineered using a unique spatial layout. Instead of traditional internal soil landscaping between buildings, the models are intelligently integrated directly into seamless hardscapes.
Perimeter Landscaping & Water Features: To balance the structured hardscapes, the core miniature exhibition is beautifully bordered by lush green perimeter landscaping and tranquil reflective pools, framing the scale city perfectly.
Integrated Indoor & Outdoor Family Attractions
The New Main Building (Indoor Hub): The relocation allowed for the construction of a spacious entrance facility that functions as the park’s heart. It houses a vibrant indoor entertainment playground for young children, a charming fairy tale exhibition, a fully equipped cafeteria, and a souvenir shop.
Classic Amusement Park Zones: Complementing the miniature displays, the outdoor grounds feature a dedicated mechanical amusement park. Tailored for family enjoyment, this zone includes a classic carousel, a panoramic Ferris wheel, and a family-friendly roller coaster, making Minimundi a complete, all-day tourist destination in Northern Europe.
